What would you like to find out more about?
ABOUT TEDTED is an annual event where some of the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to share what they are most passionate about. "TED" stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design - three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our future. The diverse audience: CEOs, scientists, creatives, philanthropists, is almost as extraordinary as the speakers, who have included Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Jane Goodall, Frank Gehry, Paul Simon, Sir Richard Branson, Philippe Starck and Bono.
TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events licensed by TED that brings people together to share ideas worth spreading. At a TEDx event, where "x" stands for independently organized event, "ideas worth spreading" are invited from the general public. TEDxOshawa is a non-profit event, totally organized by a group of volunteers. All speakers, partners, and sponsors provide their services for free. This event would be impossible without their help and your participation! |
About TEDxOshawa
|
TEDxOshawa, like it's parent TED is a volunteer driven, non-profit organization created in 2023 by Zehra and Kinza Mahoon, and Faris Mahoon Siddiqui. Also part of the founding volunteer team are Deb Oldfield, and Chad Andress, who are no longer actively involved. Since its inception, the TEDxOshawa team has brought 45 speakers and entertainers to stage. TEDxOshawa offers an indepth speaker training program spanning over 6 months. Speakers do not pay to play and all training and materials are free of cost. Like its parent TED, TEDxOshawa believes that this eliminates bias in the selection process, so that only the best idea can be curated. TEDxOshawa funds it operations through sponsorships from local organizations that align with it's vision and mission to spark creativity and innovation, and shine a light on local talent in all disciplines. |
